Students Prerequisites

No matter from which faculty or university the students are originating, one of the most important prerequisites for the three programs is that the students who want to enter the program should have acquired sufficient analyzing, synthesizing and interpreting capabilities in their previous education. They should be able to understand a large variety of problems, and to translate them into an abstract academic level; to crosslink the knowledge from a variety of scientific disciplines, to form a personal and independent opinion and to transmit it to others. The students should show a strong interest in technological problems, are interested in how and why systems are functioning, have a clear sense for the societal and psychological relevance of technology. The target group is therefore expected to show the following basic characteristics:

  • capacity for mathematical-analytical way of thinking
  • strong interest for technology
  • being excited by the relationship between science and technology
  • eager and prepared to learn autonomously
  • sense for hard working and perseverance
  • sense for entrepreneurship and creativity

During their bachelor education the students should have acquired (eventually after following a preparatory program) a basic knowledge on mathematics (including advanced algebra and differential equations), physics and organic and inorganic chemistry, electronics and electromagnetism, eventually also notions of cell biology and biochemistry, molecular architectures and recognition or chemical material science.
