As one of the first in Europe, Chalmers Tekniska Högskola has been running an international Master's programme in Nanophysics since
1996 with a strong foundation in quantum physics and engineering. This
has recently been developed further into a consistent Nanoscale Science
and Technology program through a combination of theoretical and experimental
courses. In particular Chalmers is running a newly developed course in
Modelling and Fabrication of Micro/nanodevices which should give the students
hands-on training in clean room fabrication procedures through project
work in collaboration with research groups. Chalmers Tekniska Högskola
is at the forefront of research in the fields of Quantum devices, Super
conducting electronics, Quantum computing, and Molecular Electronics through
Department of Micro technology and Nanoscience and its top-ranking clean
room and process-laboratory.. Other specialties are single-electron and
Josephson junction devices for measurement, digital computing, quantum
information processing, MEMS, photonics and microwave electronics. Also,
Chalmers has a very active entrepreneurial school working close to the
researchers. The educational elements supplied by Chalmers for the EMM-Nano
are strongly research-based, involving teachers from the research staff,
and dealing with subjects closely related to ongoing research.
