  • A limited number of scholarships will be granted by the European Commission for applications coming from third countries. All applicants from third countries are automatically eligible for this scholarship.

The term “third-country” does not have anything to do with the term “third world”. Nationals coming from all countries other than the 25 EU Member States (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, Sweden, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia), the EEA-EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and the candidate countries for accession to the EU (presently Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Turkey), who are not residents of any of the above countries, and who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries are considered “third-country nationals”.

The consortium will submit the list of selected students to the European Commission. The scholarships can only be granted after the official approval of the European Commission.

The consortium will communicate with the students on this matter. You will be notified by the end of March whether you are selected for the course or not, this will be an unofficial notification. The official approval of the European Commission will be communicated to you by the beginning of June.

Courses start between the end of August and the beginning of November, depending on arrangements made by each university of the consortium.

The scholarship includes:

  • A fixed amount of € 7000
  • A monthly basic amount of € 1166, paid in 12 terms (as of academic year 2007-2008)
  • Accident and medical insurance via affiliation with ACE Assistance Europe

The scholarship is sufficient to cover all your expenses during your stay in Europe.

  • For EEA students

The Consortium is offering a limited number of grants to European students. All applicants from EEA countries are automatically eligible for this scholarship.

Criteria for eligibility for the grant:
- Accepted to the program
- Academic excellence
- The grants are used for mobility (studying in another country than the country of domicile )
- A motivation letter for the need is requested

The Board has the final decision right.
For the academic year 2008-2009 the amount will be 700 euro per month during 10 months = 7000 euro per year. (for Delft/Leiden this will be 120 Euro per month)

The consortium will communicate with the students on this matter. You will be notified by the end of June whether you are selected for the course or not. If you have been selected for the grant, you will be informed on that at the same time.
