Common Thesis Rules

Thesis subjects with accompanying short description and supervisors for next academic year are published at the EMM website in the second semester.  At the May workshop first year students can ask information about the thesis topics to the university responsibles. Students select a topic and inform the supervisor, the local coordinator of both universities where he/she is studying and the program coordinator.

Thesis work is carried out according to the local rules of the universities.

Every thesis has a supervisor at the university where the thesis is carried out, and an examiner at the other university. The examiner has to be selected by the student and the supervisor, and be approved by the program director and/or the educational committee.

3 hardcopies of the thesis books should be sent to the first year university (1 for the external examiner, 1 for public display and 1 for the coordinator) ; 1 pdf version should be sent to the coordinator.

Students should mention in the thesis that it was part of the Erasmus Mundus program and should mention their EMM trajectory.

All thesis students present a status of their work at the EMM-workshop in May, 10 minutes presentation + 5 minutes questions. There is no common final thesis presentation, the thesis is defended at the university where the thesis work is carried out according to the local rules.

The thesis is scored by both the supervisor, the eventual local assessors, and the external examiner, based on the content of the scientific work, the quality of the text and of the presentation, and according to the  local criteria of the university where the thesis is done.
